About us

Education has always been in my family, my mother is a retired teacher and my grandfather a retired headmaster. However I started my working life in a very different industry!  Following a successful career in banking, I decided that I needed a new challenge. I knew I wanted to work for myself and do something that had a positive impact on those who I work with, not just making shareholders richer.

The most satisfying part of my banking career was working with the junior staff, helping them develop, learn new skills, coaching them through professional qualifications and mentoring them. This experience however, showed me that young people were coming into the job market with fundamental gaps in their education.  It was when working with them to fill these  gaps that I noted that they responded well to one to one teaching, obvious really, but it started me thinking…….

A few years on and my wife Christina and I were talking with friends about their children’s schooling, about how they’d looked into hiring a tutor but were so frustrated at how hard it was. From the massive range in the quality to having to go to the tutors home at inconvenient times.  To me the entire process didn’t sound very customer friendly, so I decided to look into this further.

The result of my research made me realise that there is a better way to a supply good quality tutoring service to students that puts them first. So using my years of business experience, driven by my passion to help people reach their full potential and desire to provide a brilliant customer experience, I created TutorWise. I feel that we’ve made a business that provides a service to help students achieve their own educational goals and therefore be better placed to fulfil their potential. In addition, as someone with Dyslexia, I am also extremely passionate about helping those with learning difficulties overcome any additional challenges they have to reach their full potential.

We at TutorWise believe that you never stop learning and that every new student gives us the opportunity to improve our service.

If you are looking for a tutor please contact us, we would be delighted to speak with you about your requirements and see how we can help.
